Get ready for some travel disruptions in Sydney! A major police operation is about to impact your daily commute. From February 8th to 12th, the CBD and Eastern suburbs will experience road closures, causing potential headaches for motorists and commuters alike. But here's the catch: it's all in the name of public safety.
On February 9th, be prepared for sudden changes in transport operations. Traffic delays are expected in the afternoon, so if you're planning a journey, you might want to reconsider. The authorities are urging everyone to avoid non-essential travel in the CBD during this time. And this is where it gets interesting: special event clearways will be enforced, meaning parking restrictions will be in place. So, drivers, beware!
Buses will also be affected, with some routes diverting from their usual paths. If you're a regular bus commuter, you'll need to stay updated on these changes. From midday on February 8th to 2 pm on the 12th, buses to and from Circular Quay will start and end their journeys at Martin Place. Passengers, take note: you can use the light rail or trains to bridge the gap between Martin Place and Circular Quay.
For Circular Quay bus commuters:
- Buses will start and end trips at Martin Place, with city-bound buses ending at Elizabeth St Stand C.
- Buses leaving the city will depart from Elizabeth St, Stand E, affecting routes 304, 333, 343, 392N, and 396.
- Light rail and trains are your friends during this time, connecting Martin Place and Circular Quay.
Bondi Beach and Queens Park residents, take note:
- On February 9th, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, Route 333 and 380 will divert around closures in Bondi Beach, skipping stops on Campbell Parade.
- On February 10th, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, Route 356 will miss some stops along Queens Park Rd.
