Former U.S. national team forward Jozy Altidore has joined forces with NBA star Russell Westbrook in a groundbreaking soccer venture in Oklahoma City. The duo, along with a group of investors, has purchased the rights to a USL Championship team, previously known as the OKC Energy. This move marks a significant step towards establishing a world-class soccer environment in the city, with plans to have a team ready for a new stadium opening in 2028.
Altidore, a two-time U.S. Soccer Player of the Year and World Cup participant, brings a wealth of experience and credibility to the ownership group. His playing career, which includes spells in the English Premier League and Spain's LaLiga, showcases his dedication to the sport and his ability to inspire and develop talent. Echo Investment Capital, Altidore's business partner Alex Lee, and the Chickasaw Nation are also part of this exciting initiative.
