Australian Open 2026 Qualifying Results: Blockx, Prizmic, Budkov Kjaer Advance | ATP Tour Highlights (2026)

The race to the Australian Open main draw heated up on Wednesday, with several rising stars inching closer to their Grand Slam dreams. But here's where it gets exciting: among them are familiar faces from the Next Gen ATP Finals, ready to prove they belong on the biggest stage. Alexander Blockx, Dino Prizmic, Nicolai Budkov Kjaer, and Rafael Jodar, all fresh from their Jeddah experience last month, are just one win away from qualifying.

Blockx, the 20-year-old Belgian sensation, continued his unstoppable form after winning an ATP Challenger in Canberra last week. He hasn’t dropped a single set in qualifying, dispatching Alex Molcan 6-1, 6-1 to move within striking distance of his first major main draw appearance.

Croatian Dino Prizmic, who famously took a set off Novak Djokovic at the 2024 Australian Open, showcased his potential again by defeating Gustavo Heide 7-5, 6-2. Meanwhile, Norway’s Nicolai Budkov Kjaer, still seeking his major main draw debut, battled past Australian James McCabe in a thrilling three-setter, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(6).

And this is the part most people miss: Rafael Jodar’s meteoric rise. The 19-year-old Spaniard, who climbed from outside the Top 900 to a career-high No. 150 in the PIF ATP Rankings last year, breezed past Chris Rodesch 7-6(10), 6-3. His three ATP Challenger titles in the second half of 2025 are a testament to his rapid development.

Elsewhere, Pierre-Hugues Herbert, the 2019 Australian Open doubles champion, reminded everyone of his singles prowess by eliminating Gonzalo Bueno 7-5, 6-2. Coleman Wong, fresh off a quarterfinal run in Hong Kong, maintained his momentum with a 7-6(7), 6-0 victory over Pablo Llamas Ruiz.

Luca Van Assche and Dusan Lajovic also advanced, with Van Assche dominating Daniil Glinka 6-3, 6-0, and the experienced Lajovic, a 2021 fourth-round veteran, overcoming Murphy Cassone 7-5, 6-3.

But here’s the controversial question: With Jannik Sinner defending his title and Carlos Alcaraz chasing the Career Grand Slam, can any of these qualifiers make a deep run and shake up the tournament? Or will the established stars dominate once again?

The hard-court major kicks off on Sunday, promising a week of thrilling tennis. For full results and updates, visit the official Australian Open page. Who are you rooting for? Let us know in the comments—we’d love to hear your predictions!
